On a cold, wet Friday evening in February 2020 RDCS members, many accompanied by friends and family, enjoyed a convivial evening of a delicious fish and chips/jacket potato supper followed by an enlightening and entertaining talk by Nigel Kirk, from the local antiques and fine art auctioneers Mellors & Kirk, in our own antiques roadshow.
Nigel was impressed by the selection of items brought to be valued by audience members and over an hour or so talked about each one in turn – its age, its history in relation to the development of similar objects and its value.
There were some surprises, both pleasant or disappointing, but everyone went away knowing a little more about their item and hugely impressed by the depth and breadth of Nigel’s knowledge.
A very entertaining evening was had by all.
